The right mattress can make all the difference when it comes to getting a good night’s sleep, and considering we spend about a third of our lives laying in one, its certainly worth finding the best one for your body.
We see a lot of people in store who test our mattress range by having a little bounce up and down on the edge. Then maybe they’ll lie on the bed for a minute or so – often less. This is definitely less than ideal.
Here are my tips for picking the best mattress –
Wear comfortable clothes
Most people are a little shy about wearing their PJ’s out bed shopping, but you really do want to be wearing clothing that is similar to what you wear in bed when you’re out testing mattresses.

Let your pockets be free
Take everything out of your pockets. You wouldn’t have your phone, wallet and keys in your pocket while you’re in bed so make sure you remove them while you’re test driving that gorgeous new mattress.

You really want to spread out and relax. Take your time. Try the mattress in various sleeping positions. And, if you share your bed then make sure you both test the mattress together at the same time to check that its supportive enough and you don’t roll toward the centre.

Most mattresses only last 5 to 10 years before they need replacing. If you can’t remember when the last time you bought a mattress was then now is probably a good time to buy a new one.
